Any time you add weight to your muzzle device, even if it is a relatively small lightweight unit, you decrease the effectiveness of the brake. The weight of the brake increases as the brake is rotated out. In extreme range conditions where the shooter is seated too close to the muzzle, the shooter can literally feel every round leaving the muzzle. Therefore, in order to “tame the dragon”, relatively small amounts of braking gas can be sent downrange. In order words, the more you weigh, the more it will cost you in excess of increased muzzletum. The Dragon Slayer Lightweight Brake is designed to significantly reduce felt recoil, in order words, muzzle climb and muzzle flash. In order to “tame” the dragon, however, you need to first eliminate the muzzle climb. The Dragon Slayer features three braking slots in each of its three channels, with the first one being a slot in the center, which slots in opposite directions. This feature allows the shooter to quickly recognize the optimal position for optimal sight picture and ease of use.
