The Exped Venus III DLX Extreme is a three-person tunnel tent designed for lightweight backpacking and expedition use. It offers a sturdy shelter that balances durability with a relatively compact pack size, making it suitable for those who need reliable protection without excess bulk.

This tent features a PU-coated 40D ripstop nylon outer, a 30D ripstop-nylon inner with fine No-See-Um mesh and a rugged 70D taffeta-nylon floor. Those materials help resist tears, keep insects out and stand up to rough ground. The tunnel design creates generous internal space and headroom, while the included guylines, pegs and carry bag make setup and transport straightforward on the trail.

Denier (D) refers to the thickness of the yarn: higher numbers mean tougher fabric, so the 40D flysheet holds up against abrasion, while the 20D mesh balances insect protection with breathability. The PU coating adds a layer of moisture defence. You’ll also see two weights listed: 4.9 kg is the total packed weight and 4.5 kg is the trail weight, which excludes some accessories to give an idea of what you’ll actually carry.
