The Bivybag Uno UL from Exped is an ultralight bivy sack designed to slip over your sleeping bag and offer a basic layer of protection against wind, ground moisture and light rain. It’s aimed at backpackers and mountaineers who want minimal bulk while staying shielded in the backcountry.
Weighing just 160 g and roomy enough for a sleeper up to 205 × 89 × 65 cm, this bivy keeps your pack light without feeling cramped. It’s rated for use down to about 5 °C, so it helps trap a bit of warmth on cool nights. The 15 D ripstop nylon shell is coated with silicone and PU, then fully seam‐taped, giving you a slim barrier against the elements. Plus, it meets Oeko-Tex® 100 standards and is PFAS-free, so you’re not carrying extra chemical treatments.
The fabric’s 2,500 mm water column rating means it can resist the pressure of roughly 2.5 m of water before leaking, which is enough for dew and light showers. The “15 D” denotes the denier of the threads—a lower number indicates a finer, lighter yarn that still offers good tear resistance for typical outdoor use.
