The Copper Spur UL3 XL from Big Agnes is a three-person ultralight dome tent designed for backpackers who want to carry less without giving up livable space. As part of Big Agnes’s lightweight tent lineup, it offers a roomy interior for three while keeping pack weight and bulk to a minimum.
Weighing in at just 1.62 kg and compressing to a 56 × 17 cm pack size, this tent uses a breathable 15D nylon fly with 20D solution-dyed ripstop panels and 15D polyester mesh to balance ventilation and protection. The inner tent is made from 100% breathable polyester for airflow and privacy, and the HyperBead™ groundsheet fabric resists abrasion and encourages water to bead up and roll off. The DAC Featherlite NFL + NSL pole system gives a sturdy frame without adding unnecessary heft, and Dirt Dagger UL stakes are included to secure the tent on varied terrain.
“Denier” (D) ratings indicate the thickness of the fibers: 15D fabrics keep weight down for easier carrying, while the 20D ripstop reinforcements improve tear resistance. Solution-dyed ripstop embeds color into the fibers for better UV stability and less fading over time. HyperBead™ groundsheet coating enhances water resistance by making moisture bead up, helping to keep the floor drier and more durable on rough ground.
